Now that you've seen all I have to offer let me introduce myself:

 

My name is Kirk Wynn and I have been playing the drums for over 25 years, as well as a few other instruments for almost just as long.  Most of my musical life has been spent in churches of all kinds: old school small churches, big contemporary/modern churches and everything in between. I also spent a handful of years traveling in different bands and spent some time in Nashville writing songs. So my experience has been all over the map.

Which I love. It's helped grow me into the musician and person I am today. Now days I'm a worship leader, music director, songwriter/composer, studio musician and of course...a drummer.

The reason I created Favorite Worship Drummer is to help drummers understand what is actually expected, desired, and needed from them. Most drummers think their job is to mimic the recordings exactly. A lot of drummers are completely self unaware and don't realize they are completely out of sync (stylistically) with the band or worship leader, and a lot of GREAT drummers end up being SUBPAR worship drummers because worship drumming isn't about chops or the technical side of drums. It's all about understanding & managing energy and dynamics. If you can shift your drumming from the mindset of "I'm a drummer and this is how the drum part of this song goes" to "I'm a producer/composer and this part of the song needs to feel like this" THEN you're headed in the right direction. So therein lies the reason for Favorite Worship Drummer: to help you become the drummer you CAN be if you knew everything you need to know to reach that next level. It's an old saying but it's true: You don't know what you don't know. And there is SO much to learn when it comes to worship drumming and worship music in general.

I know every drummer is in a different place in their journey. Some are just starting out playing drums, some have been playing for a while and are consistently playing at their church, and some are looking to start making their own drum videos online. To meet the needs of those 3 specific drummer types, I've created 3 different courses as you've seen above.
